"Enter Data" Question

Where do I go to ask a question about a class ?

How to Successfully Implemenr A Piece of M Code

Hello Mellisa

At 1:10 I don’t understand how to copy values into the create table.

I can never just paste data the enter data.
Yes, I can one at a time but never a whole table at onces.

And yes, I like this idea necause if I want to share a Power BI
file with someone I can just put the data that is needed to show
of ask a question, but I’m tying on a easy small table and just can’t
figure it out.

Do you have an example of this please ?

Hi @ericet, I noticed you didn’t provide a PBIX file. Providing one will help users and experts find a solution to your inquiry faster and better.

A perfect initial question includes all of the following:

  • A clear explanation of the problem you are experiencing

  • A mockup of the results you want to achieve

  • Your current work-in-progress PBIX file

  • Your underlying data file (to allow us to go into Power Query if necessary to transform your data and/or data model – often DAX questions really end up being data modeling solutions)

Check out this thread on Tools and Techniques for Providing PBIX Files with Your Forum Questions

Not completing your data may sometimes cause delay in getting an answer.

Hi @ericet,

Please see the “Enter Data” steps below, I hope this is helpful.

It took me far too long to discover this…when I did it was a mixture of delight and annoyance haha!

Thanks for the video. I suggest you enhance the video in your class to make it more clear how this is done.

For me moving data from one Power BI to another one.
Export the data to CSV, load it up into Excel properly.
Then select copy and paste.

I agree with the other comments, this is a great trick.

I have always typed in my values in this part of Power BI
never pasted in data like this.

Just another way to load data into Power BI.

Thanks

Hi @ericet,

Thanks for the feedback will do a proper video on this.
All the best.

@ericet ,

FYI - Here’s a related tip to file away that took me an embarrassingly long time to realize…

Yeah I know right :+1:, that’s why it’s also included in the GIF above.
Just one of those things that isn’t obvious immediately.

@Melissa ,

Sorry, I missed that. As always, you’re way ahead of me…
