is there a way to download a published pbix from app.powerbi.com ?

Yes, you can download the published file from the PBI Service. Just go the File section and under the drop-down select the option of “Download the .pbix File”. Below is the screenshot provided for the reference -

that works for apps I publish but what about other published apps like the links in the challenges ?

Power BI reports can be downloaded from the Power BI Service and Apps but it doesn’t allow or have the options of downloading the reports from an open source or link.

Below is the link provided for the reference about the options available for downloading and in which cases reports cannot be downloaded even from Power BI Service as well.
