Using Brackets for £ values that are negative

Hi Fellow Power BI,

I notice that by default negative $ values can be shown inside brackets but other currencies can not- there a way around this?

Have you tried something like the below using the FORMAT function

= Format( Measure, "#,##;(#,##)")

I saw something like this on a google search, but it came with warnings as they suggested it changed the format from number to text which could cause issues.

Is that the case with your formulae, and using in your models of PL, BS etc will changing to text cause issues?

Yes it does make it text, so it just sort of depends how you need to use it from that point.

It’s certainly not perfect but if that is just the end result you need and you’re not looking to use that measure in any other measures then it’s an option.
