To sort Year descending in the filter pane

I have a requirement where user has asked to sort year column that appear in filter pane to show present year as first one in the list. i.e Descending order. I was unable to do it with sort by column option ( like i was able to sort month as jan, feb and so by using sort by column month number) Is there any way to achieve it.

Hi @edna,

You can’t change the sort order within the Filter Pane, so it has to be set Descending by default. See if this works for you.

Don’t know if there’s a better way but this does do the trick for you, if you limit the years to the current one that is…

I Dont see the year(Z-A) or year (A-z) options in the sort by column. , Also our data has only upto this year ie 2022, 2021, 2020 …, Any Calculated column will help to sort the year?

Apologies if my previous response was unclear. I created those sort by colums both are of type number, the A-Z is equal to the value of the year and the Z-A is the negative value of the year.

@Melissa would it be more ideal to change the column type to Whole Number rather than Text?

Hi @Ocelot911,

Yes definitely. As a best practice storing a whole number as an integer is recommended, better compression. The example above was just to illustrate a method.
