I attended a great session of the Lagos Power BI Learning Community yesterday entitled “Analyze Your LinkedIn Activity with Power BI”, and learned something fascinating. In compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation ( GDPR ), almost all major social media and streaming services provide you the option to download all of your personal data.
For example, if you go to your LinkedIn profile and click on “Settings & Privacy” and then “Get a copy of your data”, it will give you access to dozens of different data tables related to your account activity.
Other streaming services allow you to access your data in similar fashion through an option in your profile. I’m currently in the process of obtaining 20+ years of Netflix usage data, which I think will make for a very entertaining practice dataset.
