I have a query about sorting data in a particular month in line chart. Line chart is showing a series of data, example as below. At the moment, my top 5 item groups are sorted by total value of item groups. What if at each month, I need to sort the data in descending order for that particular month, how do I do it in filter or DAX? It’s easy in excel by just sorting a particular column, but I don’t know how to do it in Power BI. As I’m sorting item group orders at each month, which means my top 5 item groups will be different as at each month.

For sorting you can go on 3 dots … then Sort Axis and pick the sort that you want - one Example :

As I believe, your expected outcome is related with ranking items by specific value separately for each data period vs showing top 5 items across all selected items. But this is my guess.
Would you mind providing a sample excel screenshot (i.e. with a sample chart that shows which outcome do you expect) ?

Hi @Gustaw , thanks for coming back to me. I guess you got what I mean. 
Below is my sample data, and I have also attached the PBI file.
At the moment I can only filter the top 3 items by total value, my question is, let’s say in Mar 23, I would like my top 3 to be sorted by value of that particular month, so my top 3 will be item 1, 2 4 instead of top 3 of total value as item 3, 4, 1. So basically top 3 as at each month could be different from previous month as well as different from top 3 in total value.

Hi @xshields , thanks for coming back to me, but my sorting question is not just simple as sorting any particular axis in general, I actually need the sorting at a point of each time slot. I have given my example in a post below, hope someone can assist me.
