Slicer : select all vs select all handly

Hello,
I have a problem with a calendar slicer…
If I choose 2022 and 2023, I obtain the correct results. If I choose ´Select all’, a blanc row appears in the table of results.
Could you help me to understand what happens ?
Thanks a lot

Hi @Thierry,

Welcome to the forum!

The blank row is a special row added to a table, in case the table is on the one-side of a strong relationship and the relationship is invalid.

When there are orphaned rows in your Fact table meaning there is a Date key in your Fact table that does not have a matching a row in the Dim Date table, the VertiPaq engine will automatically add a BLANK row on the one-side of the relationship – in this case to the Date table. Then, it links all orphaned rows on the many-side to the blank row on the one-side. Therefore, all the different values of the Fact Date key with no corresponding row in Date are linked to the blank row.

Hi Melissa,
Thanks for your answer.
I understand well but what I less understand is why if I select 2022 and 2023 , it works and when I select all it doesen’t.
In the two cases, the orphans lines still exist and should be displayed whatever the selection…
I’m lost

Selecting all means no filtering is applied and the blank row will show. Any selection from Date without explicitly including the blank will omit it.

I hope this is helpful

Yes, you help me a lot.
I will check my data to find the lost line !
