Simple date picker needed!

I am presenting daily sales data to my customer, and there is no concept of a date range so far as this use case is concerned - the data is either about today, or so far this week up to today, or this day last month compared to today.

So what I would really like is what used to be called a “Date Time Picker” in Windows forms development. A nice compact widget where you can quickly browse to any one date.

I have looked at various options in the marketplace and I can’t find anything even close. Does anyone have a solution? This is what I am after:

Hi @Jamie

Have you looked into these?

I hope this is helpful

Ah brilliant, I will “head on over to my laptop” and check that out!

Hi there

I hope the following link can also be useful.

Using Date Pickers in Power BI Report Builder (coeo.com)

Hi @Jamie, did the response provided by @IlgarZarbaliyev and @Melissa help you solve your query? If not, how far did you get and what kind of help you need further? If yes, kindly mark as solution the answer that solved your query. Thanks!

Hi @Jamie, we’ve noticed that no response has been received from you since the 24th of February. We just want to check if you still need further help with this post? In case there won’t be any activity on it in the next few days, we’ll be tagging this post as Solved.

That was quite cool what Patrick did there, thanks for the link, but I can’t mark it as a solution. What I want is “On” as an option on the date filter. Or similar functionality.

Hi @Jamie … I don’t understand to what you’re referring by “On” option/functionality. Can you please provide Excel or screenshot mock-ups of specifically what you’re looking for?
Greg

Hi Greg, thanks, when I said “On” I kinda meant “Is”! Here’s what I am on about. Here’s a date slicer, and I only want one day to be selected. This is the day with the data we are going to report on. So I dont want or need a range.

This is the option available as a filter:

PBI Filter

So I can filter when the value “Is” and not “Is on or after”. Do you see what I mean?

Jamie

Hi @Jamie. I’m not sure why the technique referenced by @Melissa earlier (where you cover-up the second picker with a blank rectangle; GIAC sample video) doesn’t fit the bill … can you screenshot exactly what is happening in your in-progress PBIX and mark-it-up with exactly what you want to have happen?
Greg

Thanks for these! I have an immediate need for a single date picker. 2nd option looks to be the more dynamic.

It looks like as of the date of this post this is the best option. As Patrick himself says, “it does require a little bit of work”. Even if you go down the calculation group route. To me at least, it seems bizarre the hoops I have to jump through to filter my dates down to a single value. But Microsoft have clothed and fed me for over 20 years so I will not complain! Thanks to all who contributed with this.
