SharePoint vs Dataverse, which one should I choose?

Hi,

I am going to upgrade my skill (that will go along with Power BI), but I got confused when choosing between SharePoint and Dataverse.

After searching the internet, it gets even more confused.

Can anyone give me a suggestion on which one should I go for?

What are the good points and bad points of SharePoint vs Dataverse?

Hello. I use both for different reasons.

I use SharePoint when the VP of sales uploads his excel spreadsheet weekly. It’s in a common location between us. So all I do on my end is refresh my dashboard.

DataVerse I am using now because we have a CRM through dynamics 365. That is updated daily by over 20 individuals. So it just depends on what you are connecting to from Power BI and why,

So in your case, SharePoint is used as a communication place for your organization & DataVerse is used to update daily data.

Did I understand correctly?

After researching more closely, I realize there is a term mentioning Dataflow (that also used DataVerse as database storage), which has many benefits.

Have you heard about that? (Sorry if this is not in the scope of this thread)

Yes you are correct with what I stated. I’ve not used DataFlow personally.
