Power BI March 2022 - Will not run

I have just updated Power BI desktop to March 2022 version but when I try to run it I get a long error message, see below. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the previous version but I get exactly the same message, so I now have no Power BI at all.

Any help gratefully received.

Hi @PaulBoyes. I’ve been using the March 2022 update without any installation or use issue. Here’s my Help \ About screen:

I’d try the reinstall again, with a new download and a reboot after uninstalling the existing version. If you’re getting the download from a network source (rather than downloading from Microsoft yourself), then perhaps contact your IT resources?

(EDIT: I know Microsoft started requiring WebView2 as part of their installation process recently; perhaps that’s the issue…)

What report will not run? Are you connecting to a server and using a script in your report? Did you install the correct version? Like do you have the 32 bit Power BI or 64 bit Power Bi?

Hi,

I uninstalled, re-booted, downloaded from Microsoft site, re-installed, re-booted.

When I double click on the desktop icon there is a delay of a few seconds then the error message appears. I don’t even get past first base, Power BI just does not start.

Have you tried opening it from the start menu as opposed to the short cut/desktop icon?

I had some issues with the March update when it was first released, I then waited a day or two before they released a patch update and downloaded that.

I just went through the same process again but including the WebView2 installation but, sadly, the result is exactly the same. No Power BI at all.

In the Microsoft Power BI community I have found an entry in which the user gets the same error and some possible solutions are proposed.

If it is not resolved, if you are a Power BI Pro user you can create a Power BI support ticket.

I tried accessing the support ticket but it does not allow the description of a particular problem. It only works on pre determined categories and sub categories, none of which include installation problems.
