Power BI dataset from published(service) to unpublished (on premise)

Good day dear Experts
I am stuck with a problem. Recently our team decided to publish data model to the service, create reports and then publish reports separately. It has been going well in my development workspace, as soon as I tried moving it to the team Development workspace(premium workspace), it is unable to load data model. I am a Pro user so can’t use deployment pipeline for this purpose. I can publish data model in Team Development workspace but I can’t connect with it in my report. Team decided we can go back to on premise dataset so can distribute the report to others but I can’t change data source to any other type/location as I have connected to the on-premise dataset. I will really appreciate if someone can guide me in a direction where I can work around this.
I have pro license with admin rights but no rights to change settings for the team development workspace (premium). The person who has those rights is on leave until the end of November and this is my 1st report for this organization.
Appreciate your help, sorry for the lengthy post, wanted to provide details.
Thanks and Regards
N

Hi @NajahS we aim to consistently improve the topics being posted on the forum to help you in getting a strong solution faster. While waiting for a response, here are some tips so you can get the most out of the forum and other Enterprise DNA resources.

  • Use the forum search to discover if your query has been asked before by another member.
  • When posting a topic with formula make sure that it is correctly formatted to preformatted text </>.

  • Use the proper category that best describes your topic
  • Provide as much context to a question as possible.
  • Include the masked demo pbix file, images of the entire scenario you are dealing with, screenshot of the data model, details of how you want to visualize a result, and any other supporting links and details.

I also suggest that you check the forum guideline How To Use The Enterprise DNA Support Forum. Not adhering to it may sometimes cause delay in getting an answer.

Please also check the How To Mask Sensitive Data thread for some tips on how to mask your pbix file.

Update:
Once you connect with direct query, you can’t change source. The only way is to delete the direct connection and change source to local.

You can toggle between DirectQuery and Import mode.
