I hope @jsodhi won’t mind me using his thread to ask another question regarding performance. I ran into serious performance issues with my small multiple Deneb chart, using facet layer. I’ve checked performance analyzer on my visual on first page load:
When I then refresh visuals it looks like this:
So DAX isn’t a huge issue, but mysterious “Other” is freezing me down. Any ideas on what that might be? Something cache’able that loads faster after refreshing?
It’s not waiting for other visuals since everything else loads below 3s.
Hi @Ozzy. As a best practice, please start each new question in a new thread (link to an existing thread if it helps describe your issue).
The “Other” you see in performance analyzer is a characteristic of all Power BI pages and is not related to Deneb at all. AFAIK there’s no insight into what contributes to the “Other” number, and the only way I’ve heard to reduce it is to reduce the number of visuals on the page; whenever I see an “Other” number I don’t like, I move some of the visuals onto a new page.

I’ve tried doing so, but unfortunately it doesn’t help. Here’s my performance analyzer once I’ve moved Deneb visual + simple slicer to a new page:
What’s weird is that other varies from 700 to 2500 on different attempts (when loading a page), but when refreshing visuals it’s always below 400, as if it had to do with caching? I have never experienced it with native visuals.
