Hi Community
I’m trying to apply a non-standard font “Inter” globally across all elements in Power BI.
I used a font theme
Also downloaded the font from https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Inter
and installed on my PC.
The font does not render properly. See the top bigger font text in the below screengrab.
The only way I can render it is to use HTML
The second block in the screengrab is the below measure, in a custom HTML block:
Inter_HTML =
"
Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted
"
any ideas on how to use Inter font globally?
Online research seems to suggest that its not possible :
“Microsoft’s official theming engine ignores custom fonts for most visuals unless it’s one of a few accepted ones.”
According to this article: Using enterprise or custom fonts in Power BI. They replaced ALL instances of the default font name in the JSON file for their custom theme. This is a solution from 2020 - but I assume it’s still viable.
It looks like your solution might be similar to this one: Power BI Blog: Importing Fonts into Power BI. If you have not read it, I recommend reviewing - they seem to have a lot of success with this.
response comes with the following disclaimer - I have not attempted to use a non-standard font in one of my Power Bi reports, because I cannot control the fonts available to my audience.
If my users don’t have my chosen font available on their local machine, the view will default to one of Microsoft’s fonts.
Bonus - for those who want to mix fonts (have more than one new custom) - this appears to be possible by specifying fonts for certain visual types. I don’t think you’ll have the ability to select your custom from the drop-down, so it would have to be applied carefully. Good luck with this - and hopefully anyone with actual experience can chime in with more information!
