Enterprise Gateway

Hi All,

Current Scenario:

• Client has no on premises server
• Currently a third party IT company provides IT solutions (or they should)
• Data Sources are a postgres database and an excel spreadsheet.
• The client has an enterprise gateway sitting on a virtual machine via AWS
• The excel spreadsheet is also saved on the virtual machine.

The issue:

• Client requires updating the excel spreadsheet but can not access it as it is on the virtual machine.
• I proposed saving the excel file in Sharepoint online and connecting the virtual machine to the sharepoint excel rather than the excel saved on its c drive but the IT department does not want to do this as they do not believe it is incorrect (they are worried that the virtual machine will then be used to “host” all the sharepoint data as it will be loaded by thr virtual machine in AWS.

Question:

  1. What recommendations would you suggest to allow the enterprise gateway to refresh an excel file which needs to be updated by the business and where they are completely online?

  2. Do you agree the gateway is best setup on a virtual machine in AWS (there are no options of setting up a personal gateway)?

Moving me back up the list - Any idea Guys - Thanks
