I developed a cross-report drillthrough which is working well.
However, drilling through from a specific matrix with 4 fields in the rows causes the visual not to load with a ‘Query has exceeded available resources’ message.
When drilling through there are two types of propagated filters:
- Filters applied to the visual through rows or filters in the source page
- ‘From source visual’ filters (all fields in the rows of the matrix hierarchy):
Type 2 filters never seem to affect the results, but have a massive impact on performance. When I remove this filter from the target page, the visuals load immediately.
I can’t find any documentation about these Type 2 filters.
I don’t think I can test performance using Performance Analyser as the issues only occur during cross-report drillthrough which can only be used in the App.
Has anyone else experienced these filters causing issues and do you have any good solutions?
My best solution is to allow users to access the Filters pane and ask them to deselect the Type 2 filter which isn’t a good user experience.
