Hello there! I’ve just started working on the first exercise in the beginner’s Power BI module, and I’m having some trouble getting my date table to work correctly in my visualization.

Welcome to the Forum and to PowerBI .
From your post I am not quite sure - you have problem with your date table to work properly or with your visualization (we need more details to help out).
Regarding date table
as Sam’s said in Beginners guide to PowerBI in Creating a Date Table
you need to get the M code (destination is changed over time) but you can find at:
copy it to Blank Query - Advanced editor (paste it over removing previous template)
Then invoke
And choose Start and End date (other are optional but you can add it too if needed)
If everything go smoothly you will have in PowerQuery date table:
you can rename Query
and Close & Apply
After that you need to make relationships to other table if you have another tables.
And then you can go to visualizations.
