Calculated columns Vs Custom Columns

Will there be a difference in size of the file if we create custom columns in power query rather than calculated column in dax

@Anu Yes there are differences, but have you tried it yet?

Hi @Anu, did the response provided by @AntrikshSharma help you solve your query? If not, how far did you get and what kind of help you need further? If yes, kindly mark as solution the answer that solved your query. Thanks!

Hi @Anu,

As Microsoft states:

The DAX calculated column does not compress as well as the other methods. The other column types do get compressed, which makes the .pbix file smaller and the performance usually faster.

But as @AntrikshSharma already mentioned - you could do a quick test to see the differences because will depend on your data.

You could also use the Dax Studio tool to see more details like Model Metrics and check which other table/columns take space.
