Hi everyone!
Looking for some best practices insights here…
I have a large master report with tons of data for my organization. As I’ve grown the BI division of my org, I get asked to included more and more data/information, visuals, etc. in this report. The issue that I’m trying to solve is the best way to have different versions of this report. For example, there are a couple of tabs/pages that I only want my Finance Team to have access to, but not my Operations Team (and vice versa). The route I’m thinking about is to deploy and publish my one full master report, then publish the different versions (with hidden pages in each report respectively) using the “save copy” feature in PBI online. Does this sound like the best route to go? I’m trying to avoid having to maintain two or more different files, if I don’t have to.
Let me know if you need more information or clarification. Thank you in advance for your help!
Best,
Daniel
Hi Daniel, you could use RowLevelSecurity: Row-level security (RLS) guidance in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
You could split out just the DataSet and upload that. Then you can several reports using that as the datasource… I.E. one report as Operations Report, another for Finance etc…

Hi @daniel.new
As @marcster_uk rightly advised, you could use Row level security and maintain different reports for different audiences, which is the recommended way.
Or you could try a complex work around to achieve “Page level Security” as explained in the links below:

May be Microsoft will bring this feature in a future update.
This Idea is indeed Under Review by Microsoft…
