Do I only need the company’s login details in order to access social media data from LinkedIn, Instagram, and Glassdoor?
That’s correct. Under the EU GDPR companies have to provide you access to your own data. So for social media companies, media streaming companies, etc., you can just log in to your account, go to Profile and there will be an option there that says something like “Download my data”.
The first time you do it, you’ll probably be amazed at how comprehensive it is and how much data they actually collect on you. If I recall correctly, the LinkedIn dataset is nearly 2 dozen separate tables.

Thanks @BrianJ! Is it possible to automate the download? I don’t see a Power BI web connector for these.
Yes - there are two ways to do that. You can either do it through the API, which I find very difficult and have never gotten to work properly.
OR
You can use a 3rd Party data pipeline company, which makes it incredibly easy to automate pulling your data into Power BI directly or a separate database/data lake, which you can then flow to Power BI. At Enterprise DNA we use Dataddo.com for this type of automation. I have found their service to be outstanding and their products to be powerful and easy to use. If they don’t have a connector you need, the will often build it for you for free, and you just pay for the usage.
I hope this is helpful.

Hi @powerbideveloper, we’ve noticed that no response has been received from you since October 15.
We just want to check if you still need further help with this post? In case there won’t be any activity on it in the next few days, we’ll be tagging this post as Solved.
Thanks, @BrianJ!
I see the API option for LinkedIn is very complicated, so I might go with the company you suggested, at least for the short term while I figure it out.
Yeah, my hat’s off to anyone who can make the API option work.
If you talk to Dataddo, let them know you’re an Enterprise DNA member and that we recommended them to you. I’m sure they will take good care of you.

No, you typically need more than just the company’s login details to access social media data from company LinkedIn profile, Instagram, and Glassdoor. These platforms usually have strict policies and require specific permissions to access their data.
For LinkedIn, you may need to apply for a developer account and obtain an API key to access the data. Instagram also requires an API key, which can only be obtained through an application process. As for Glassdoor, you would need to partner with them and have an authorized account to access their data.
Additionally, even with the proper permissions, there may be limitations on the type and amount of data you can access from these platforms. It’s important to carefully review each platform’s terms of service and developer documentation before attempting to access their data.
