Power Query Function to Add Controls (Check Duplicates)

Just a thought - Creating power query control functions that take in the input of tables and group by ID’s inputted by the user.

Essentially for every table in our data source we can use this function to then have a control check table that essentially would list the tableName, ID, Duplicates (yes/no) etc.

This may be more applicable to excel where by processes are built on top of powerquery.

Hi @Ocelot911,

Welcome to the Forum!

Read your topic twice but couldn’t find a question there…
Anyway, it is possible to create reusable custom M functions do all kinds of validation on your data.

All the best,
Melissa

Welcome to the forum @Ocelot911!

Just want to remind you that a perfect initial question includes all of the following:

  • A clear explanation of the problem you are experiencing
  • A mockup of the results you want to achieve
  • Your current work-in-progress PBIX file
  • Your underlying data file (to allow us to go into Power Query if necessary to transform your data and/or data model – often DAX questions really end up being data modeling solutions)

Check out this thread on Tools and Techniques for Providing PBIX Files with Your Forum Questions

Not completing your data may sometimes cause delay in getting an answer.

LOL
Since you’ve requested it, do you have a paticulair set up, other validation steps or output requirements in mind? If so, supply a small sample with expected results - I’ll definitely look into that for you

Let me know.
