The IT team have changed the name of our SQL database server and now we need to update the new database name in all the reports that use this database server as source.
It´s a big number of reports (more than 50) and we would like to check before doing manually if there is an easier way of doing that, anyone know?
And also if there is a best practice to follow to avoid this problem in the future.
If all your reports are “thin” reports and use a Power BI dataset, the you can edit the PBIX for the dataset(s) or adjust its (their) server and database name parameters in the Power BI Service.
If all your reports use parameters for the server and database name, then you should be able to do this in the Power BI Service only, editing the configuration for each report individually.
If you’re not using parameters for the server and database name, then you’ll likely need to edit the PBIX file for each report individually and republish.
