Data Source Error

Hi,

Thanks for helping! I’ve been using a MySQL database as a data source without any major issues, so far. However, a couple of days ago I’ve noticed that one of the datasets isn’t refreshing properly. The dataset is published in PBI Service and it has been refreshing without any errors reported but the data hasn’t actually been updated in days.
I went back to the original pbix file, tried to refresh and got the following message for one of the tables

OLE DB or ODBC error: [DataSource.Error] MySQL: We cannot convert a value of type System.String to type System.Guid…

I read somewhere that I should try deleting all transformation steps which include data type changing. I did that but it didn’t make a difference.

Has anyone ever come across this issue or has a sense of what I should be looking at in order to try to resolve it?

I use the same datasource and same tables (transformed in a more or less similar way to begin with) for many of my reports and only this one has been reporting the error.

Any help is appreciated!

Hello @AndreaM, welcome to the forum!

I noticed you didn’t provide a PBIX file. Providing one will help users and experts find a solution to your inquiry faster and better.

A perfect initial question includes all of the following:

  • A clear explanation of the problem you are experiencing

  • A mockup of the results you want to achieve

  • Your current work-in-progress PBIX file

  • Your underlying data file (to allow us to go into Power Query if necessary to transform your data and/or data model – often DAX questions really end up being data modeling solutions)

Not completing your data may sometimes cause delay in getting an answer.

Hello @AndreaM we’ve noticed that no response has been received from you since Oct 5.

We waited for your masked demo pbix file and other supporting links and details. Other users can help you more if you have a PBIX file in your query.

Due to your inactivity, we’ll be tagging this post as Solved.
